The United States consumes 33.4 billion liters of water but only 40 million bottles a day went into the trash or became litter. So what happened to all those plastic bottles that didn’t get recycled? Plant It Water™ may have a solution to all those plastic water bottles ending up in landfills.

Ever wondered what happens to industrial fire hoses that can no longer be used to put out fires or those excess commercial burlap coffee sacks? A British company, Elvis & Kresse Organization (E&KO), takes these untapped resources and turns them into beautiful handbags. Fire houses across the UK are supplying this emerging designer label with urethane tube construction, fire hoses, for their product line and EaKo is donating 50% of their profits to the Fire Fighters Charity. After removing all the dirt and grime from the hoses history the process reveals a reusable green textile that EaKo turns into classic handbags using skilled leather craftsmanship. EaKo’s environmental products are the cornerstone of their brand. E&KO joins the Noblivity MarketPlace where the full product line is available at Noblivity.com.

Now Blooming | A Green Tradeshow
The Moment | Steffie Nelson |October 21, 2008
Sustainable fashionhas finally outgrown its hemp straitjacket. Just two years ago, when Barbara Kramer and Ed Mandlebaum curated the first “green room” within their bi-coastal trade show, Designers & Agents, pickins were slim. But this past weekend, the pair took over an entire floor of L.A.’s Cooper Building for the introduction of D&A Greenmarket, which featured 50 brands. Said Kramer: “It could easily have been double the size. But the product has to stand on its own as great fashion. The sustainability aspect, to us, is the free gift with purchase.”
At a cocktail reception Saturday evening, the chic greenies Angela Lindvall and Adrian Grenier, her co-host on “AlterEco,” a show on the Planet Green channel, checked out the latest collections from familiar names like Edun, Alabama Chanin and Tom’s shoes. Read the whole story
