I am a textile designer in Portland, Oregon. I use natural dyes and rust to create my collection of lingerie called R.A.W. After spending eight years developing my processes I started R.A.W. in 2007. R.A.W. is inspired by vintage undergarments ranging from the 1800's to the 1950's to modern day

Collection Profile:

Rio’s original approach is to use dyes that come from the earth such as iron, insects, and plants. She also uses rust and copper objects to create pattern and color on the luxurious silks. Additionally Rio uses Shibori, an ancient Japanese resist technique, to add pattern and dimension.
