Noblivity Spotlights Emerging designer Julio Irving
Designer Name/Brand: Julio Irving | GiulioNYC
I started and launched my collection in 2006. My interest in art and design comes from a love of art, music and life’s finer things. I have an eye for elegant colors, classic, bold and independent shapes and textures. My pieces are glamorous, modern, unique yet timeless…the difference is in the details.
My beautiful collection has adorned numerous celebrities as well as everyday professionals, and are currently distributed in upscale boutiques throughout the United States, Qatar and Hong Kong. I understand the importance of style, color, silhouette, function and quality which are reflected in my designs. All characters combine elements of rich colors, textures with classic and bold themes and crafted exquisitely. I also understand how the market’s desire to look sharp, sexy, independent, confident and sophisticated without being overly done. I know how to convey current trends into classic contemporary pieces. My notion is that a woman should not have to spend a great deal of money on an item that will lose its fashion appeal.
How did you get started? After my sister had trouble trying to find an affordable and trendy python handbag, I decided to take on handbags.
What inspires your designs? New York
How would you describe your design style, design signatures and who is your targeted customer?
I always try to transform the characters of my market when designing, into something beautiful yet affordable through my handbags and accessories. Either through the shape, colorful lining, natural markings from each type of exotic skin I use for each handbag or creating special colors for each skin.
My target customers are women who are classic, strong, modern, daring, bold and adventurous balancing every day life but approaching it with style and confidence. Who seek the best quality in life!
What designers inspire you? Issey Miyake, Jill Sander, Bill Blass and Christian Lacroix.
What obstacles did you have to overcome? There is nothing I could consider as obstacles in doing things I love to do!
What has been your greatest moment on your journey so far?
When I got a text message from a very nice friend early in the morning recently, saying I should contact one of U.K. dept stores that they are interested in my handbag collection. The greatest moment in life beyond ecstasy!
If money were no object what would you do right now? To open my own ‘Julio Irving’ store
What are the best and worst things about being a designer? So far, only best things happen to me as a designer
Describe your typical day? Too much to describe
What’s your philosophy of life? “Be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead!”
If you could do it all over again, what would you do differently? I would have started designing years ago
When will you know you have made it? I don’t think I will…
